Reiki, pronounced ‘ray-key’, is a Japanese word meaning ‘Universal Life Energy’, an energy which is all around us and flows through all living beings. Reiki evolved from the ancient teachings of a Japanese Buddhist Dr Mikao Usui in the early twentieth century. Reiki is still taught by Reiki Masters who have learned healing in the same methods and traditions passed down by Dr Usui.
The Reiki practitioner passes ‘healing energy’ through the palms to the recipient. It is highly relaxing, and can help with a range of issues and general well-being. It is a form of non-invasive therapy. It addresses the flow of energy which is hindered by stress, illness, or just keeping up with the pace of life. Reiki helps renew this energy, restoring balance and re-invigorating, making the body more capable of healing itself.
What Are The Benefits?
Reiki is suitable for everyone, regardless of age or level of health. It is used to help restore a feeling of balance, alignment and relaxation. You should feel calmer, more peaceful and in control, giving a more positive outlook on all aspects of life.
- Relaxes the body making it more able to release stress and tension, rather than bottling it up.
- Aid self-development through self-confidence.
How Reiki Works:
Reiki works through the energy centres on the body using set hand positions to pass the healing energy into the body.
Whole Body Treatment:
This is the most common Reiki treatment. To begin with, we have have a consultation to discuss how you are feeling and your requirements. You will need to wear loose, comfortable clothing to receive the treatment.
I will hold my hands a few centimetres above the body where the energy centres are. The hands are held for approximately three to five minutes in each place before moving onto the next one.
The average treatment lasts around 30-45 minutes. The hand positions used may be a set of fixed positions that I regularly use with great success or adapted to the client.
What Does It Feel Like?
During the treatment some may feel a warmth, tingling, or a ‘pins and needles’ sensation on the part of the body being treated, even with the non-touching approach. Some may feel a cooling sensation, it all depends on the individual.
During the treatment you should feel in a state of deep relaxation, and afterwards refreshed. The benefits can feel equal to that of having had three or four hours of good sleep.
How Often Do I Need A Treatment?
You should feel refreshed after just one Reiki treatment. However, often course of treatments will be more effective. I will create an individual treatment plan with you. Sessions may be at weekly, fortnightly or monthly intervals adjusted over time.
Each Reiki Therapy session costs £50.
